Day 1: Airport and more (much more)

The day began by meeting at the airport at 4:20 AM. Everyone was there on time with the exception of a chaperone (Thanks McDonald's Pt. 1). The three-hour flight to Phoenix was relatively uneventful, having encountered minor turbulence but arriving safely nonetheless. Once at the airport, we tried to have breakfast at the one McDonald's in the whole airport, but they did not have any donut sticks, frappuccinos, burritos, or smoothies (Thanks McDonalds Pt. 2).

Pastor Heiman, his wife, and his eldest son came to pick us up, and we drove the 2-hour drive to Tucson with a group singalong and naptime in the van. Once at the church, we explored and started training. Our lunch was cheesy chicken sandwiches. We then received some more training and set out for the first 4 hours of canvassing. The goal of our canvassing is to spread the word of a new child care facility (more info). Ask any of the mission trip participants for stories, they have many. :) We went back to church and recapped our day, had an amazing dinner (Brats, Mac and Cheese, and Cake) and then went to our host families for the night.

Please Continue to keep us and Grace Lutheran Church in your prayers.
